Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photographic competition that celebrates cultural diversity from around the world through Wikimedia projects, primarily Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Everyone is welcome to participate.
Wiki Loves Folklore in Nigeria is organized by Wikimedia Nigeria in collaboration with other Wikimedia affiliates in Nigeria. Participants are encouraged to explore their photo archives or visit local sites connected to Nigerian culture, folklore, or storytelling and upload their media to win!
The core aim of the competition is to collect photographs that showcase human cultural diversity to illustrate articles on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects. Submissions should align with the theme, including but not limited to: festivals, material culture, dances, cuisine, clothing, or daily life routines that emphasize the folk culture of Nigeria.
Since 2021, over 5,000 images have been uploaded by 218 contributors from Nigeria.
