Background
Wikimedia User Nigeria is one of the 170+ affiliates of the Wikimedia Foundation Inc., the owner of Wikipedia. Wikimedia Affiliates (Affcom) recognized the group in September 2015 to promote Wikipedia and its sister projects in Nigeria. Over the past seven years, the group has worked with over 75 partners within its ecosystem, including government agencies, international organizations, and several mission-aligned institutions within and outside Nigeria. Our activities have focused on human capacity development, gender initiatives, and advocacy, language documentation, Wikimedia outreaches, and campaigns.
Description
Grant Officer
The role is centered around coordinating the community support fund mini grant of Wikimedia Nigeria.
Responsibilities:
- Make periodic announcements about available grants and processes for applications
- To Manages a portfolio of Grants under established procedures.
- Collation of grant applications for review processes.
- Oversee grant review processes.
- Organize regular meetings with interested grant applicants for support where necessary.
- Work with our accounting department to ensure payment on all approved grants is made available as of when due.
- Assist with developing narrative and financial report templates for grant holders.
- Check the criteria for reviewing reports are well-defined and reviewed regularly.
- Organise meetings on writing grant proposals where necessary.
- Send reminders to grant holders about the report’s due date.
- Perform other duties as required.
Learning and Evaluation officer
The role is centered around providing strategy and evaluating all Wikimedia Nigeria programs and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing data collection, collation, storage, analysis, and reporting, ensuring that program data is in place.
- To manage research activities and ensure outcomes and lessons learned are integrated into all projects and shared with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance to the implementing grant holders, particularly in monitoring, reporting, and governance issues.
- Provide feedback on project strategies and activities.
- Conduct project assessment and evaluation.
- Suggest strategies to the Programs Director for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks.

Develop baseline data for each project component and all project indicators.
- Perform other duties as required.

- A strong organizer and communicator.
- Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal direction.
- Familiarity with tools such as Google sheets, Google Drive, and Zoom
‘Nice-to-have’ skills.
- A demonstrated interest in Grantmaking and evaluation.
- Experience organizing community events or workshops.
- Registered Wikimedia contributor.
